About The Plaza Theatre in El Paso, TX 79901

The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center is a National Historic Building of Significance that was built in 1930 and restored to its original theater glory in 2006. It is located in downtown El Paso, just a short walk from the Judson F. Williams Convention Center and the Abraham Chavez Theatre.

The theater was built in the style of the Spanish Colonial Revival. It has intricately painted ceilings, mosaic-tiled floors, decorative metal railings, and old furniture. The Plaza is one of the few atmospheric theaters left in the United States. It makes people feel like they are sitting outside in a Spanish courtyard. The stars on the ceiling look like the stars in the sky in the southwest in June. The Mighty Wurlitzer Blaban III Organ is also one of only six organs ever made. There are 1,071 pipes in the organ, and it can sound like 15 different instruments.

The Plaza Theatre has the 2,050-seat Kendall Kidd Performance Hall, the 200-seat Philanthropy Theatre, and the Alcantar Sky Garden, which is a great place to rent for private receptions, business parties, and family get-togethers.

• Beautiful historic venue in downtown El Paso! Helpful and friendly event staff. Easy parking is nearby at the Convention Center parking garage.
• I love coming to Broadway shows, concerts, or most recently, live performances by physicist Teresa Caputo. The building is beautiful, and I love the old architecture.
• Awesome!!! Hamilton came into town, and the production was Five Stars. The show and cast were superb. The quality of the acoustics of The Plaza Theater is really spectacular, and it will be nostalgic for generations to come. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
• The Plaza Theatre is such an amazing piece of El Paso history. Catch a movie, a touring Broadway show, or just an awesome concert there. And be sure to walk around a bit to see the whole place; it’s worth it.
• A British Ballet Academy performance was held at the Plaza Theater. It was lovely. The building is historic and has its own charm. I only wish it had stadium seating and more space in the aisles.
• Great experience at the Historical Plaza Theatre! It’s got to be the most beautiful venue in El Paso! My wife invited me to go to the Little Joe, Ruben Ramos, and Roberto Pulido concert. We got four hours of great Tejano, Mexican, and oldies music. Well worth the price of admission. I hope to go back soon!
• I’ve been here numerous times, and it’s always a great night out. This is an older theater that shows its age in the architecture when you walk inside. They have a bar immediately to your left when you walk inside that takes cards or cash. The theater chairs are a bit tight, and there’s not much legroom.
