About National Border Patrol Museum in El Paso, TX 79924

The museum was established by a 1979 vote of the Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Officers. The State of Texas issued its incorporation certificate in 1980 as a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization. Its first location from 1985 to 1992 was the Cortez Building in El Paso. From 1992 to 1994, museum artifacts were in storage awaiting construction of a new building. This is the only museum solely honoring the Border Patrol, and artifacts cover the agency’s entire history. Among the exhibits are weapons and vehicles used, including helicopters. What do people say about National Border Patrol Museum in El Paso, Texas 79924?

  • Operates on donations and the great history of our Border Patrol. Great piece of our history. I spent about 2 hours here reading the history and memorials. Nice gift shop as well.
  • What a wonderful hidden gem! We learned so much about the history of the Border Patrol. I am grateful to the men & women who protect our borders and look out for America. Learn about the animals that serve as well. This museum is free to tour. The attendants are always willing to answer any questions and are very informative. A must-add on your visit to El Paso!
  • It is a great free museum in northeast El Paso. The museum is funded solely by donations, so consider bringing a little cash when visiting. They have a few vehicles and displays that patrons can sit in and enjoy. There is a lot of information about border patrol on the northern and southern borders.
  • It was like the African American Museum—the Holocaust Museum undercover. Hmm,  a lot of people lost their lives, but that wasn’t disclosed. I enjoyed the tour, but I had to read between the lines.
  • It is an amazing amount of learning packed into a little building! Not just about the border with Mexico but also with Canada and beyond. A lot of great exhibits and donated items from agents, cars, helicopters, and planes! I have recommended this place to many people now! Amazing stop on a cross-country trip!
  • This museum is so unique. The history of the border patrol is not broadcast as much as it should be. The people involved with the border patrol are definitely not acknowledged enough. It’s definitely worth a visit. Even though it is free, please take the time to make a donation.
