The El Paso Museum of Archaeology presents 14,000 years of prehistory in the El Paso area, the greater Southwest, and northern Mexico. You’ll see dioramas and exhibits of American Indian lives and their material culture, from the Paleoindian hunters of the Ice Age to their modern descendants. The exhibits are periodically changed to reflect the scope of the Museum’s collections and the interests of the community. Special exhibits are located in the auditorium and the North Gallery. The auditorium also houses exploreable drawers of artifacts from across the US.

• Took a group out to look for flowers and different types of grass weeds. They have an amazing view of the mountains and a lot of different plant and flower species. It’s a must-do in El Paso. The museum is great, with a nice, quaint gift shop, so you can take plenty of stuff for all ages.
• Another hidden gem! In our search for things to do, we stumbled upon this wonderful museum. A step back in time for indigenous cultures A beautiful tribute to the original Americans Accepts donations and has a great gift shop!
• Perfect size for a quick visit yet big enough to spend time lingering and reading. Very friendly staff and a nice gift shop. Loads of parking. It’s free to get into the museum, and you can donate if you want to support their efforts. large, clean bathrooms.
• Nice place. It’s good to be out in nature. I walked the paths for the poppy festival. There were not many poppies, but it was nice finding the ones that were there. The museum is a nice look back at the history of the local desert and its inhabitants. There are lots of souvenirs and snacks at the museum shop.
• The parking was more than adequate for my own very large vehicle and even a couple pulling a 30-foot trailer. The lot was clean, had a little garden, trails, blooming flowers, little birds nesting, and all sorts of fun to be had. The exhibits range from enclosed glass cases to full-on shelters ranging from the lithic period to more modern adobe examples used by indigenous peoples right up to today. Lots of their baskets, beads, tools, weapons, art, etc. The bathrooms are super clean, to an impressive level. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
