Founded in 1959, The El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA) is located in downtown El Paso, Texas. First accredited in 1972, it is the only accredited art museum within a 250-mile radius and serves approximately 100,000 visitors per year. A new building was completed in 1998. In addition to its permanent collection and special exhibitions, the museum also offers art classes, film series, lectures, concerts, storytelling sessions, and other educational programs to the West Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico communities.

The mission of the El Paso Museum of Art is to collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit works of art that support and illuminate the Museum’s permanent collection of American, European, and Mexican art. The Museum celebrates the region’s diverse cultures through exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programs and is dedicated to scholarship while providing a stimulating and inspiring environment for all audiences.

Brings in gorgeous Americana landscapes and portraiture via 20th-century greats and looks back to the Colonial Era, Renaissance, and even Byzantine with classical religious iconography. Lots of “wow” moments here. It’s obvious how important light is to this West Texas town, and their paintings, photographs, and sculptures shine brilliant reflections of the people and places that make up this fascinating town and its environs.
• AMAZING! I have traveled and lived all over the world. This place is a gem! Free with a lovely collection of art, well-curated over the years. You feel welcomed the moment you enter, and all is easy. We visited recently with my mother and young daughter, and we walked into a classical concert playing live in the lobby as we toured the museum. A beautiful, charming experience! Highly recommend!
• Really shocking collection of beautiful art, especially if you keep an open mind towards different types of art. If you have an appreciation for unique art, regardless of whether or not a specific piece speaks to you or not, you will really appreciate this museum.
• Great museum and it was free! I spent a pleasant hour or two strolling the galleries and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
• Great museum that is free to visit! There is so much to look at. Definitely a great addition to the community. They have events listed inside for members of the art exhibit. The halls are wide enough that you could comfortably bring children and have them by your side without risking them knocking into anything expensive. We went over the weekend, and it was not very busy.
